Do you ever feel like dessert is a part of your past?
Does the thought of giving up on cleansing and raw foods cross your mind from time to time because you think it means you have to give up the satisfaction of hitting that sweet spot after a nourishing vegetable based dinner?
Please don't feel this way anymore! I promise you that there is always a way to enjoy the sweetness of Nature while still honoring your beautiful body - and I'm not talking about a walk in the park - I'm talking about the Just Vegetables Dessert Challenge!
As Casey and I wrapped up the Total Body Tune Up Cleanse, another idea on how to further lighten up and enhance cleansing on a day to day basis sprung upon us: Vegetable Based Desserts!
You might be thinking, "Do you really think that vegetable based desserts sound appealing to me?". I hear you. I've been there.
And I've been proven wrong!
Vegetables are so versatile that they can be transformed into anything sweet or savory. I'll admit that I have a sweet tooth that can compete with the best of them, and I'm sure you're all used to my Chocolate Cheesecake Crack-esque posts , or
my even more indulgent rich and creamy desserts such as the Lemon-Honey Semifreddo. However, I am open to new experiences, and I know that I can make some killer desserts, both sweet and savory, using just vegetables. I imagine this is going to be a mind expanding and totally exhilarating thirty days! I cannot wait!
Below are the guidelines for the Just Vegetables Dessert Challenge.
From September 23rd, through October 23rd all desserts will be:
- Made almost entirely from raw or cooked vegetables
- they may include spices such as cinnamon, carob, or cocoa
- they may also include herbs
- they may also include small amounts of nut or seed milks
- stevia varieties, honey, and sea salt may be used
- they must be delicious! :)
So let's get creative and play with our food a bit! There's no need to take nutrition and eating so seriously when there is such variety in the vegetable kingdom with which we can nourish our bodies and please our taste buds.
This challenge will also show you how to:
- Get far more creative with your veggies
- Eat more raw and cooked veggies
- You’ll likely eat less fat, sugar, salt and refined carbs than you do now, depending on your current diet
- You will lose some weight if you are currently eating heavier desserts
- You will improve your digestion if you are currently eating heavier desserts or fruit after dinner (note: fruits except for “vegetable fruits” like cucumber, tomato, bell pepper/capsicum are not included in this dessert challenge as they will hinder digestion and cause excess gas and bloating if eaten after a meal as dessert)
- Get more recipe ideas and get to share with others as a community
- Follow along on the blog and my new facebook page, where I will be sharing daily updates along with photos of my vegetable dessert creations.
